Recallr vs Obsidian

Recallr or Obsidian? Saving, or writing.

Obsidian is a place to write linked notes as plain files you own. Recallr is a place to send everything you come across, so you can ask for it back in plain words. Here's how they handle the same everyday jobs.

Where Obsidian wins

Where Obsidian is the better pick.

We make Recallr, so here's the part we'd want to know ourselves.

  • Ownership

Your vault is a folder of Markdown files. Nothing about it depends on a company staying in business.

  • Writing

Linked notes, Canvas, templates and properties make it a real thinking workshop.

  • Customization

If you want a feature, there is probably a community plugin for it.

  • Price and platforms

The app is free on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone and Android.

Using both

They aren't either-or. Write and think in Obsidian, and send everything you come across on your phone and in the browser to Recallr, where it gets read, connected and stays easy to ask about. When you sit down to write, ask Recallr for the sources.

See it in Recallr

Real recordings, not mock-ups.

Recorded in the Recallr iPhone app (in beta, on its way to the App Store), on a test account, against the live service.

Questions

Good to know.

Still curious? Ask Recallr in the corner, or write to support@recallr-ai.org.

01Does Obsidian have AI built in?

Not in the app itself. Community plugins can add AI chat and search, usually with an API key you bring and set up yourself. Recallr's AI is built in and answers from your saves with sources.

02Can Recallr replace Obsidian?

If your second brain is mostly things you save and look up, yes. If you write long, linked notes and want them as local files, Obsidian stays the better place for that, and many people use both.

03Is Recallr free?

Yes. The Free plan holds 200 saves and notes, with an AI allowance that refills every 5 hours. Pro is $14.99 a month or $159.99 a year and removes the save limit.

04Does Recallr store my notes on my device?

No. Recallr keeps your memory in your account so it can read, connect and answer from it on every device. It is never sold or used for ads, and you can delete it anytime.

How we compared

We're the team behind Recallr. We used Obsidian's own pricing and product pages for its facts, checked October 17, 2026, and left out anything we couldn't confirm there. Spot something out of date? Write to support@recallr-ai.org.
